DeterminedDetermined  is no stranger to taking the stage in the Memphis-area.  Their past performances have earned them a strong following in the area and they are routinely mentioned as one of the best quartets in the region.  The quartet hails from Tupelo, Miss., a traditional hotbed for outstanding quartets and the hometown of the legendary Lee Williams and the Spiritual QC’s. The gospel quartet group, Christian Young Men of Rossville, Tenn., have been invited to participate in the inaugural season of The Gospel Quartet Series in Memphis. Over the last year, the quartet has gained widespread recognition from outstanding performers, teachers and mentors in the Memphis-area gospel quartet community. As they’ve performed, Christian Young Men has grown musically and spiritually within the gospel quartet genre while showing respect for the gospel quartet legacy. The Christian Young Men will perform at the Salvation Army Kroc Center as part of The Gospel Quartet Series May concert.

The  MellowTones mix great quartet lyrics with great sounds.  The “Tones” fuse mellow sounds with outstanding stylings backed by an outstanding group of talented young musicians.  Bruce Clay, when offered this opportunity to be a part of the inaugural season of TGQS stated “yes I like the concept, yes I get it, count us in”.  Thanks Bruce and the MellowTones for helping us at TGQS lay the foundation for an outstanding quartet concert series.

This quartet finds its roots in the Delta but has developed a distinctive style that transcends the region.  The Soldiers, coming off of its performance for more than a  thousand people at the annual Martin Luther King Holiday program featuring nationally-acclaimed quartets, take the stage as part of the 2013 TGQS.  During the Resurrection Day service at Redeemer Presbyterian Church, The Strong Soldiers previewed their upcoming April 28 performance at TGQS to a warm and receptive church of worshippers.

TGQS Announces Meant By God, March 24 at Kroc Center

The Gospel Quartet Series is proud to announce the addition of Meant By God to the March 24 TGQS showcase at The Kroc Center. Meant by God was voted the Best New Quartet in the mid-south by TGQS.

Meant By God has said they “are excited to be on stage at such an important showcase.” TGQS is just as excited about the first showcase of 2013.
